- Sturgeon: ABSOLUTELY PROTECTED. Trout: Regional closed seasons in mountain regions (mostly spring).

- Sturgeon: Fishing prohibited year-round! Other species are subject to local catch restrictions by Shilat.
- Prohibited methods
- Dynamite, electrofishing and poison are strictly prohibited. Net fishing for recreational anglers is illegal.
- Catch & Release
- Recommended for trout stocks in the Zagros rivers to preserve biodiversity.
Protection measures for the Beluga sturgeon remain strict in 2026. Any caviar removal without a state license is a serious offense.
