The Goliath fish is the crown jewel of the Congo Basin. Fishing usually takes place in extremely remote, pristine river sections far away from the centers.
The vast Congo Basin is one of the last places in the world for genuine wilderness expeditions targeting the Goliath fish.
Very small coastline near Muanda on the Atlantic; hardly developed for sport fishermen so far.
Complete own high-performance equipment required (steel leaders, 10-11 rods). Nothing is available for rent on site.
Mandatory: 500-1,500 USD/day for fully organized, protected expeditions.
Arrival via Kinshasa; inland only possible by pirogue, small aircraft or off-road vehicle.
Highest warning level: Travel only in organized groups with security support; malaria prophylaxis and yellow fever vaccination essential.
