- Closed seasons
- No general closed seasons for sport anglers. Observe marine protected areas.
- Catch limits
- Red Sea: Moderate limits. Lake Nasser: No strict limits for tourists. Respectful handling is expected.
- Prohibited methods
- Spearfishing in the Red Sea is prohibited. Nets only for commercial fishermen.
- Catch & Release
- Increasingly common for Nile perch at Lake Nasser. Red Sea: Recommended.
In the Red Sea, many areas are designated as marine protected areas (e.g. Ras Mohammed). Fishing is prohibited there!
