Exam format

60 multiple-choice questions (6 subjects × 10), on paper, ~120 min (uncertain); pass with 45/60 (per-subject minimum uncertain); no practical part; dates year-round at the associations

Minimum age

Exam and license A from 14; youth fishing license ages 12–18 (coarse fish, with conditions)

Mandatory: 30-hour classroom course at one of the two recognized associations; pure online courses not recognized (common workaround: take the exam in Brandenburg, which Berlin recognizes)

License A: €18/1 year, €27/5 years; fishing levy €21/calendar year

No shortcut here — in this state the only way to the water leads through the fishing exam.
