Rules & Regulations
- Closed seasons
- Marble trout: October-March (closed season). Brown trout: Varies. Grayling: January-May.
- Catch limits
- Marble trout: Strictly limited or C&R only. Rainbow trout: 3-5/day. Grayling: Often C&R.
- Prohibited methods
- On the Soca and many rivers: ONLY fly fishing! Worms and spinners often prohibited.
- Catch & Release
- Mandatory for marble trout on many stretches. Recommended for all salmonids.
The Soca is one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe — turquoise, crystal-clear water! Many stretches are Fly-Only. Marble trout up to 120 cm and 25 kg possible!

- Flight to Ljubljana. Rental car to the Soca Valley (1.5 hours). Good road infrastructure.
- Safety
- Safe country. Pay attention to mountain weather. Rivers can rise quickly after rain. Neoprene waders!
